I painted this person after visiting Daytona Beach FL. Across the street from our hotel was a 50's era diner where we ate breakfast every morning. Good food and people.
After a career as a technical illustrator and motion picture animator,I again pursued my passion for oil painting. After exploring abstract and impressionistic styles I turned to representational subjects. Figure painting and landscapes are now my focus. I attended a plein air workshop at the Fechin Institute in Taos, NM and at the Scottsdale Art School, in AZ, I studied with Laura Robb, Ray Vanilla, Scott Burdick and Sherry McGraw. I also enjoyed a weeklong workshop of plein air painting with these members of the Plein Air Painters of America: Kenn Backhaus, Ralph Oberg, Jean LaGassick and Ron Rencher. My landscape painting “Ohio Morning” was honored as finalist in the Artist Magazine national competition from more than 11,500 entries. My portrait of my granddaughter earned me a runner-up honor in the North Light magazine cover competition. Three of my paintings were included in a Midwest Oil Painters of America juried show in Chicago. My paintings are in numerous private, corporate, and public collections.
